A 'globe de mariee' or glass marriage dome with it's original black lacquer base, mirror and pressed gilt metal decorations arranged around the central red velvet cushion.
Used to house treasured souvenirs from the wedding day, and to reflect the bride and grooms love for one another. Much has been written about the symbolic significance of the gilt doves, foliate decoration and mirrors that traditionally adorn the central 'garniture'.
A highly decorative item in excellent condition.
