Oversized Italian silver gilt wood torchere

A magnificent silver gilt wood torchere.

Standing on a tri-form base with scrolled feet, this oversized torchere is most likely from an ecclesiastical setting.  Carved in the Rococo style, this torchere or candle stand is likely to have stood next to an alter.

There are witness marks that suggest it was converted to an electric lamp at some stage in it's life, but it has since been reverted to its original form.

A tremendously decorative piece that would look good in a multitude of settings.
