An absolutely stunning pair of late 19th century vases by Zsolnay Pecs, Hungary.
The vases of pyriform shape are of large scale and fabulously decorated with a Ottoman influenced polychrome design featuring tulips and carnations, predominantly red and blue colours on cream ground.
Vilmos Zsolnay son of the company founder, Miklos Zsolnay made the company famous thanks to participation in numerous international exhibitions winning the Grand Prix at the world Expo Paris in 1878.
This date features as part of the printed factory mark to the base of both vases along with a second date 1879 and an impressed mark '818 Z V Pecs'.
The vases are in good condition with no cracks. There are some very minor chips to the rim (see close up photographs).
A incredibly attractive pair of vases with significant decorative appeal.
Hungarian Circa 1880
