A beautifully proportioned large wooden plate or shallow bowl raised on a turned pedestal base.
Made from two large pieces of timber with the most wonderful ring turned details, traces of old green paint and extensive wear to the top from years of use. It has taken on the most fabulous time worn appearance.
Whilst we understand it has been used as an 'offertory' plate more recently, there is no provenance to support this. We believe it may have originated from North Africa and possibly used as a plate to share food from.
We feel it would now make the most wonderful fruit bowl.
North Africa, late 19th Century
