A very finely woven sumac runner, hand made in Iran.

Sumac rugs are made on a loom in a similar way to other kilims but use a different weaving technic. This results in the face of the sumac been far smoother.

We have two very similar kilims that were sourced together (also see DB489). They look and feel completely unused, probably only brought out of storage for special family occasions and may well have been dowry pieces, or wedding gifts.

These wonderful kilim runners are predominantly red with green, pink, gold and blue motifs.
