A superb copy of the 'Old Saxon' chair from Lord Leycester's Hospital in Warwick with an engraved brass plate commemorating the chairs use in the Warwick Pageant of 1906.

The Warwick Pageant was held in the grounds of Warwick Castle and commemorated the Thousandth Anniversary of the conquest of Mercia by Queen Ethelfeda.

About two thousand performers took part in the Pageant with original footage taken at the time being available to view online at https://player.bfi.org.uk Remarkably, the film features a small number of 'Old Saxon' chars at 14:06 minutes.

The chair was most likely made by Victorian chair maker John Starkey and a further example is held within the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
