A good copy of the 'Old Saxon' chair from Lord Leycester's Hospital in Warwick.
The chair is of triangular form and chip carved to the same design and was almost certainly made by Victorian chair maker John Starkey.
We have had a previous example with an engraved brass plate commemorating the chairs use in the Warwick Pageant. A further example is held within the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
A surprisingly comfortable chair in excellent original condition. Now available with a new bespoke made velvet cushion.
H: 85.5cm (seat height 45cm)
W: 63.5cm (width between arm supports 50cm)
D: 54cm (seat depth 45cm)
Ref: DB523
