A good late C19th or early C20th tribal Nupe stool or "Elephant" table.
Carved from a single piece of hardwood, the top decorated in a geometric design above ten shaped legs.
Elephant tables were traditionally made by the Nupe people of central Nigeria and often give as a gift from grooms to their brides.
A highly decorative piece of tribal art that would function well as a side table.
From a private English collection 1960-2021.
