A good colour early 19th Century box settle made from elm.
The back rest with gentle rake is comprised of three panels between supporting stiles. The top rail carved with with the initials J.I.A.I. Below, the box section with matching three panel front and bench seat. The central section of the seat lifting up to reveal a generous storage area. To either end of the bench seat simple arm rests with square supports
An attractive and very useful piece of furniture that would function well in a hallway or boot-room.
