A decorative painted pine marriage chest with original hand paint floral decoration to the front and top.

Featuring yellow and white flowers and foliage against a reddish brown background with the date 1838 and the initials CGH above a yellow ribbon to the front of the chest with further floral decoration to the top.

The chest is in excellent condition and retains its original working lock and key. The decoration to the front of the chest is in good condition whilst decoration to the top is more worn. The interior of the chest has been more recently repainted a contrasting blue colour. The rear of the chest is unpainted.

A decorative piece of furniture that provides useful storage.
