A painted pine and elm settle with three panels along the back framed by moulded stiles and winged ends above the bench seat and single drawer with swan neck handle providing useful storage space.
The shape of the winged ends follow through in concave arm supports, a particularly attractive feature of this piece of vernacular furniture.
The original black brown painted finish has worn away on the top surfaces of the elm arm supports to produce a fabulous contrasting golden honey colour.
The settle is in excellent condition with some signs of historic worm damage and wear consistent with age and use.
A wonderfully useful piece of regional furniture that would be well suited for use in a hallway, boot-room or kitchen.
