From the collection of Mrs. Henry Ford II. This chest was part of a large collection which included rare and important furniture, paintings and works of art from UK residences in Eaton Square, London and Turville Grange, Buckinghamshire.
This particular piece is an American New England chest constructed from fine cuts of 'fiddle back' maple in the Chippendale style. The chest has a rectangular top with moulded edges that lifts up to reveal a large storage area. Below, a single full width drawer all raised on tall scrolling bracket feet typical of the style and period.
The chest retains it's original brass handles, lock and escutcheon, and is in excellent condition have undergone full and sensitive restoration.
An excellent quality piece that would sit well within a period or contemporary setting owning to it's elegant clean lines, fabulous colour, and very well figured timbers timbers.
