Oil on board 'Winter River' after the Dutch artist Anders Anderson-Lundby

A well painted oil on board by the artist W.M. Snelling bearing the titled 'Winter River' along with the artists name and Suffolk address verso. 

An incredibly atmospheric painting that depicts a small river meandering it's way through a wooded area. A covering of snow on the ground, reflecting the late evening sun. Droplets of water from the overhanging branches breaking the surface of the water.

The dark brown and black limbs of the trees silhouetted in stark contrast to the white of the snow reflecting the warmer pinks and oranges of the setting sun.

A painting after the original, by Danish artist Anders Anderson-Lundby 1841 - 1923.

The picture mounted in a new bespoke frame by master frame maker and gilder, finished using a gesso, paint and gilding process.
