An incredibly characterful Victorian bank of sixteen drawers comprising four rows of four drawers all lined in oak with original labels verso. The drawers in old paint with turned wooded drawer pulls.
The labels detailing prices for various items and compounds such as 'Seidlitz Powders' a laxative and digestive regulator and 'Snake Stones' which in other parts of the world tended to be made of animal bone or stone and used in folk medicine against snake bites however in Europe, snake stones were usually made of coloured glass or stone often with a hole in and used as protection against evil spirits.
The beautifully hand written labels in italic script add so much to these drawers providing a real window into the lives of our ancestors. A real talking point that is sure to intrigue.
H: 50cm (each drawer 11cm)
W: 83cm (each drawer 19cm)
D: 18cm (each drawer 15cm not including drawer pull)
